Classic WERA Endurance Team: Honda of Niles

Honda of Niles continued their domination of the Mediumweight Production class of the WERA National Endurance Series at Memphis Motorsports Park in 1990. The Ohio based team with riders Ron Crum, Tom Bickerstaff and Rick Pagniano had to use all of their experience to beat out Motion Systems Racing that day in Memphis. Motion Systems took the class lead after Team Hawaii’s crash. Honda of Niles chewed up Motion Systems lead until in the fourth hour in the six-hour race when Niles took over the lead for the first time. Once in the lead the squad pulled away to win their ninth race of the season. I believe Honda of Niles had some sort of sponsorship from a local soft drink distributor and had a sharp looking bike done up with the 7Up logo and the company’s green and red color scheme.

  1. Team Hawaii did not crash. We broke a rod, oiled the track and caused a red flag. Team Christy crashed in our oil and we helped fix their bike so they could finish. Ed Sorbo
