Dale Quarterley showed up to a WERA regional race at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway the week after Daytona in 1987. Quarterley must have been looking for extra practice on his Yamaha Superbike. I don’t have the results any longer, but if I recall correctly Dale didn’t do so well that weekend. I’m not sure what was going on. Dale had sub-par finishes early in 1987. Finally at the Sears Point AMA Superbike race, late that season, he scored a top-five result.
