André Malherbe Wins His First World Title

This photo is André Malherbe racing the powerful factory Honda CR500 during his 1980 500cc Motocross World Championship season. Malherbe defended his title in 1981 and came back to win a third 500cc world title in 1984. The Belgium raced in the U.S., both at the USGP at Carlsbad and in the ABC Superbikers competition, also in Carlsbad.
