Bob Delie racing his Honda Interceptor at Grattan Raceway in July of 1986. At this point Bob had already been racing for 30 years. You can see Bob’s name in racing results in old motorcycle magazines dating back to the late 1950s. He raced everything – flat track, scrambles, road racing and even hillclimbing. I heard that Bob only retired from racing three or four years ago, which means when this photo was taken Bob still had another 20 years of racing left in him.

Bob is now retired from racing but still riding the streets on his new Can-Am Spyder three wheeler. He still lives near Green Bay, WI and winters in Florida every year as he has done seemingly forever in his Daytona racing years. Bob and his wife Grace are great friends and we stay in touch but not often enough. I’ll have to change that.
Thanks for the memories. Bob started CCS racing while I was Midwest Region Race Director back in ’86

Thanks for filling in some details about Bob. Not too many people had the kind of career span he had in racing. I remember him being fast even though he sort of had that straight up, knees to tank cornering style.
Funny you should mention the Can-Am Spyder – my grandkids saw one of those the other day and thought it was the coolest thing on wheels.

Bob and Grace were two of the warmest, kindest people you could ever meet during a CCS weekend. He was and still is an inspiration to all of us aging riders in a largely young man’s sport…
Ride on Bob!
