Ted Hubbard racing his BSA B50 at Roebling Road in July of 1986 in a WERA Vintage class. Ted was an engineer for BSA and Triumph and helped build BSAs for national riders like Dick Mann and David Aldana back in the 1960s’ and ‘70s. He raced this little B50 for years in Vintage race meets. The bike was incredibly light. If I remember right he told me had had the bike under 250 lbs. back in the mid-1980s. This wasn’t much more than motocross bikes of the era. Ted passed away a little over a year ago. He was a staple on the vintage scene for years and helped build many historic racing motorcycles for fellow competitors.

I wonder if this is the person I met years
ago at Lig Birch’s Triumph Shop in
Daytona Beach Florida. He was a friend of
Lig’s and was here to race a flat track bike
at Barberville. The bike was a GTR and had
some type of new shifting device. I think it
was an automatic. He was a good guy with
a great sense of humor. The GTR stood for
Gordon Ted and Robert. Ted used to do
test riding for Triumph or BSA, and lived
in North Carolina, the last I heard.
Is this the guy ?
