Todd Poindexter leading Gary Jeffries and another rider in a WERA event at Grattan Raceway in May of 1986. If memory serves besides being a good sprint rider Poindexter was part of the successful PDQ Racing WERA National Endurance team. I was saddened to hear Todd passed away a few years ago.

I don’t think it is me. I never had any leathers like that and rarely ran the 750 classes. At an 86 Grattan I was probably racing the FJ600 and one of my Honda 500 singles.

I was still working with Todd at Northwest Airlines when he passed away. I had received a voicemail from him as he sat on the plane, just 10 minutes before his cardiac arrest. How sad. I put together his R1 he crashed the year before at Road Ameerica in order for his father to sell it. I miss Todd tremendously. I gave part of his eulogy and even then mentioned some lighter moments of the racing days, particularly when he wrecked Steve Clines FJ1200 at the Nelson Ledges 24 hour.
