No the Ricky Wallbanger isn’t a new alcohol concoction for motocross fans (although it should be), it’s Ricky Carmichael bouncing off the wall below the announcers tower at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pa.
This was during the 2004 High Point National and a lot of riders used the wall as a solid berm. Naturally Carmichael was one of the best at it. He would charge in, flick his Honda CRF450R hard left, bang off the wall and head off in the exact opposite direction in the blink of an eye. It was really something to watch.
Motocross aint roadracing!

No, and neither is flat track, but I still love it. Have you ever watched the start of a motocross national? 40 riders lined up all shooting to be the first to get to the same point at the first turn? It’s intense. And the athleticism involved is amazing.

By the way, if you only want to read about road racing go to the tabs on the right of the page and click on road racing.

Hey bigdog, what do you mean? “motocross ain’t road racing” Are you bragging or fussin’? Motocross/Supercross is getting good TV/Media coverage. Roadrace, not so good. Either way, Larry does a great job covering all aspects of bike racing… past and present. Just my opinion. John B.

Hey thanks John. To be honest I wondered about covering all areas of racing when I started the site, because I know sites that are more focused are generally more successful. But I figured I had to be true to my enjoyment of all the genres of motorcycle competition. I created the tabs on the right so if someone was strictly a road racing fan or whatever they could filter the stuff they didn’t want to read. I’m hoping there are a lot out there like me who like it all.
