883 Battle

Randy Texter (1) and Tripp Nobles (31), riding Harley-Davidson 883 Sportsters, battle in the AMA/CCS U.S. Twin Sports race at Daytona in March of 1991. Nobles came through to win this race. Texter was the first AMA U.S. Twin Sports National Champion (better known as the 883 class) in 1990 based on coming out victorious in the winner-take-all Daytona October Series Final in 1990. The championship changed to keeping points throughout the year to determine the champ in 1991.

  2. All those riders were real talent. It was close racing and a lot of fun. I like riding the MARS series with my Harley too. Those things were a blast in the dirt also. Nice series, maybe they will bring it back with the new sportsters. Wish I had the photo of all the Harley racers standing at the start finish line 1991 October . Never saw it, Nancy Delgoto shot for a magazine . I was standing with Nigel Gale. Anyway, stay cool.
