The start of Daytona’s 1983 Bell Superbike 100. The front of the grid is dominated by the newly introduced Honda VF750 Interceptor. Mike Baldwin (43) gets the jump on his Honda factory teammates Freddie Spencer (19) and David Aldana (40). You can also see more Honda riders Fred Merkel (84) and John Bettencourt (50) near the front. Wayne Rainey (60) is one of the only non-Honda riders near the head of the grid. Honda swept the podium and took four of the top-five finishes. Spencer won the race over Baldwin and Aldana. Rainey was fourth with Bettencourt rounding out the top five.
