Frenchman David Vuillemin riding with his characteristic stylishness at the 2004 Hangtown National. (Larry Lawrence photo)
In addition to being amazingly fast I’ve always felt David Vuillemin is one of the most stylish motocross racers I’ve personally ever watched.
This shot of Vuillemin from Hangtown in 2004 is a perfect example. While most other rider simply went over this nondescript jump completely straight up and down, a few might have flicked their front wheel over a bit, yet Vuillemin took the jump with his bike slightly tilted with his handlebar cocked to one side and his body leaning forward in a variation of a Superman pose.
I guess it must be a French thing, but Vuillemin always seemed to ride with certain flair and grace.
Were you at Indy in 2002, when RC and Pastrana collided after the rythym section and DV passed RC on the last lap??? I was hoping someone had a few pics of DV’s pass on RC that last lap. I tried to get a pic of RC and Pastrana colliding (it was right in front of me) but shooting pics from the stands sucks…

No I wasn’t shooting that race, but I was there. Remember the Indy crowd booing RC afterwards? It was ugly.
