Alex Jorgensen (44) and Joe Peterson (2P) run side by side during an AMA Grand National  Heat race at the Indy Mile in 1986. Jorgensen was a leading racer of the era. During his career, the Stockton, California rider won all four types of flat track nationals. Peterson was a journeyman from Kenney, Illinois, who during his career made the main at two nationals – the Santa Fe Speedway TT in 1977 and Peoria TT in 1980.
