Another Gem from Jack Morris’ Akron Motorcycle History Book

I had the opportunity to meet Jack Morris last week at his home in Akron. Former AMA Hillclimbing Champion Phil Franz arranged the meeting and Phil, and Larry Barnes of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, spent an afternoon at Jack’s house. He showed us his amazing collection of vintage motorcycles and memorabilia. It was like being a kid in a candy store and Jack was a most gracious host. In the late 1990s Jack put together a book on Akron’s motorcycling history. It was never published, but he donated the original mock up of the book to the Akron Library where I had the good fortune to come across it. We are trying to bring the book back to life on my website and hopefully at some point the Antique Motorcycle Club will make the book in its entirety available on the Web. My thanks again to Phil for setting up the meeting and to Jack Morris for showing us his collection and giving us an excellent chronicle of Akron’s motorcycling history. Centyry Cycle - Akron's first Harley-Davidson dealer.
