AMA Supersport was traditionally some of the closest racing of all national classes. Here’s a prime example in the first year of the series. This photo is from the Memphis AMA Supersport race in 1987. Greg Tysor is leading Jamie James, David Sadowski and Britt Turkington in a great dice for second. Tysor held off James for the runner-up spot (Doug Polen won the race) and Turkington edged Sadwoski for fourth.

I remember that weekend well . Cam Roos and I went together. It was like 105 degrees that day . Ski said I should protest winner Polen . ( He waxed our ass )
Said it was ” insulting” to get beat that bad. All I wanted was to get of those leathers !! Geez it was hot.

Greg,
That was quite a weekend. Polen probably had his dry-ice, fuel-cooling system going that weekend (ha, ha). I just love Turk’s beat up old-school leathers.
