Ed, Springer’s team was running a 1000cc motor his Superbike. Jay claimed he didn’t know it was a big motor. AMA officials noticed he was passing everybody on the bankng at will. It was pretty funny.

If I remember correctly it was a Dutchman bike, with a GSXR1100 Motor in a 750 chasis, Jay and I went back and forth, he on the banking and me getting him back somewhere on the in field. I remember he did not hang off the bike at all, but he was riding the thing fast, we had a blast and he did not have that much power over my Fred Pennington built GSXR750, I am pretty sure he tossed it away in the dog leg right in front of me near the end of the race. To add insult to injury the AMA still penelized him. Thats my memory of it.I love this site, Larry you are the man!!
