  1. Mark Chin was good people. His dad & mom would come to the track with him, many times camping out. Mrs Chin would walk up to the pit area of a big team with her little hot plate & a tea kettle, early in the morning. She would find a big wig on the team, show him the electrical plug in one hand & the tea-making components in the other, & smile. The team guy would subsequently point her to the most applicable power source & when all these uniformed crew guys were working on bikes in haste, she would stand there, smiling, calmly waiting for the water to boil. Mr. Chin was super nice too. I remember the better part of the 91 (I think) season where his OW01 would give them fits. It would run ok for a few laps, but then lose compression & Mark would pull in. It was if the bike had a lack of valve clearance after a while & they’d hang open. When the bike would cool off, they’d check the valve clearance. All the valves had adequate clearance & the bike would run fine. I know it happened a bunch of times. It was a shame because Mark was fast & he ran a tight ship. Behind Mark in this clip is Eric Moe. I can tell by the trademark green Zero Gravity windscreen & the “5” in #57, which was Moe’s number for years. Great pic. Post more from this era, please.
